BIOGRAPHY:
Since the release of their second CD, Livin' Reeltime, Thinkin' Old-Time the Reeltime Travelers have been taking their music to new destinations and getting a lot of attention along the way. The CD (produced by Bob Carlin of the John Hartford Stringband) has won shining reviews from, among others, Bluegrass Now and The Old Time Herald and the band has been featured in No Depression, Bluegrass Unlimited and Acoustic Guitar Magazine.

In December of 2003 the Reeltime Travelers were featured on the critically acclaimed soundtrack to the movie Cold Mountain, produced by Grammy award winner T-Bone Burnett. In May they will be joining Alison Krauss, Ralph Stanley and a host of other performers affiliated with the soundtrack for the Great High Mountain Tour.

The Reeltime Travelers play Old-Time Reeltime music, rooted in the pre-record string bands of Southern Appalachia and drawing from that deep tradition to create new songs and sounds.

Their shows are high-energy mixes of traditional, fiddle-driven dance tunes, mountain harmonies, original banjo and fiddle tunes, and new songs with ties to the Old-Time tradition.

Formed in Johnson City, Tennessee. Each member of the band was drawn to the region because of its rich music heritage and historical affiliation with country music, the Travelers have learned tunes and songs from fieldwork, old recordings and the last generation of mountain folks who remember music before records.

Their original material, innovative in the best sense, breathes new life into the traditional music they cherish.
